Everyone needs to get in touch with their inner shark sense!, April 11, 2007
I found this book very inspiring and motivating. I liked the set up of the book, it was a nice easy read, with very cute pictures and comments throughout and still packed a punch in terms of inspiring and motivating content. It's the type of book, after reading you feel as if you could do anything and a book you can always go back to when you are unsure of your plan of action. Sharkie has been there and learned these important life lessons, and you get to use her knowledge to make your life that much better. I would recommend this book to anyone especially women because we all need a little shark in us!
THE BALL'S IN OUR COURT, March 23, 2007
Sharkie Zartman is a been there, done that kind of woman. Long before it was popular she called upon a male coach to help her develop her volleyball skills. Along the way she not only learned the game but became part of a team, and found the perfect partner to share her life.
This is not Sharkie's first book and hopefully wont be her last. Her easy-going style makes you feel like you're having a conversation with a close friend who truly has your best interests at heart. Young or old, male or female, athlete or simply on the sidelines this book offers interesting insights.
With a series of real life stories and situations she let's us know that we're not alone out there, and with a little shark sense we can improve our current state of being. Weight issues, confidence, choices, career paths, parental insights, all get a moment to step up and challenge us. In a simple format of story/situation, how it relates to a shark's sensibilities, and how we can learn to confront these problems, Sharkie guides us through and brings us out on the other side.
It's a rare author that is willing to laugh at her failures. Sharkie realized early on being named after one of the world's least favorite animals meant that her road to success would no doubt involve some bumps. But right from the get go she decided not to let them slow her down. With a successful sports and teaching career under her belt, Sharkie has decided to step back and allow us a glimpse of how to handle things once the ball's in our court.

Sharkie slams one home, March 1, 2007
This is a good, quick read with great life lessons tied to how sharks use these lessons to rule the water and their life. It pumps you up to live your life as you wish and make the best of each day regardless of what life has dealt you. From yoga camp to professional volleyball to child rearing, she uses excellent real-life examples to have you understand the lessons more vividly. If you want to get refreshed about what life has to offer, read it now then "go grab life by the horns and show it who's boss." Good job, Sharkie. JJ Wilson, MBA, JD, CMA. |
Interesting Perspective, February 28, 2007
Shark Sense provides a uniquely creative analysis of the behavioral aspects of sharks in order to motivate the human psyche into action. Sharks are remarkably driven creatures. Sharkie Zartman does an excellent job of explaining why people should adapt a comparative lifestyle to that of a shark. I no longer fear sharks; I now admire them thanks to the new knowledge I have gained. Prior to reading this highly inspirational book, I was not aware of the various skills I could adopt just by observing animalistic tendencies. Be prepared to experience key revelations about your inner self as you peruse the pages of this one-of-a-kind eye opener. Success will seem even more attainable after readers finish reading this rewarding perspective.
Acting like a shark can be good for you, February 10, 2007
If I had been blessed with a unique name, I'd like to think I could be half as clever as Sharkie Zartman has been in using it to impart self-motivational directives that are effective as well as pertinent to the subject matter. Discovering the truisms of life based on your namesake is a gift that Ms. Zartman shares through personal anecdotes that illustrate shark-like traits. It's doubtful that many people realize they have an inner shark, so they most likely have not gotten in touch with it, but by heeding the advice in "Shark Sense," they'll be able to tap into this potential power of a formidable predator. The shark senses enumerated may seem familiar at first glance. But by melding personal experiences gained as a professional athlete, mother, and teacher, Ms. Zartman casts them in a new light that is uplifting and motivating. The senses overlap many facets of everyday life--work, health, personal relationships, and inner peace--making this book helpful to a wide audience.
Here is what the "Sharkman", Alex Buttigieg, has to say about "Shark Sense".
I am amazed at how Sharkie has managed to combine shark and human attributes and hit home with such charisma. Humans have always feared sharks and labeled them frightening senseless killers, but the fact is that if humans try to adapt their style of living the same way as these magnificent creatures, our lives would be so much happier and healthier.""
